Ain Shams Model United Nations (ASMUN) kicked off in December 2014 with a ceremony at El Baron Palace in Heliopolis, marking the beginning of a new season for one Egypt’s oldest simulation Model United Nations.

ASMUN is an interactive student activity built around session debates, simulating UN organs like the Security Council, Human Rights Council and the International Court of Justice.

The ceremony celebrated ASMUN’s accomplishments as the sole Model United Nations (MUN) accredited by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Egyptian Ministry of Culture and UN Egypt.

Guests included Ain Shams University Vice President, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, the Director of the National Council for Human Rights, numerous law professors, as well as public figures such as football player Amr Gamal and hundreds of enthusiastic students.

The Baron Palace celebration kicked off what is proving to be a highly promising year.  The event crowned the organizing committee’s efforts and months of hard work.

Ain Shams Model United Nations was founded in 2007 by students at the Faculty of Law, with the aim of fostering a constructive forum for open dialogue on global issues, and encouraging knowledge of international affairs.
