“Do You Know What You Know?” TEDx Cairo University Campaign

TEDx is a non-profit organization devoted to spreading ideas, usually in the form of short, powerful talks. It all began in 1984 as an annual conference for technology, entertainment and design, whereas today, this conference covers almost all topics from science to business to motivational experiences to global issues.

In 2009, the TEDx program was initiated to reach more people and communities around the world, and in 2015, they got the license to establish TEDx Cairo University. They started with the Mosaic, and then the Decipher in 2016 and the Agora in 2017.

The fourth was the mega marketing campaign “Do you know what you know?” where they provided people with the platform to question themselves and contemplate anything they thought they knew but actually didn’t.

  • You know that you blink but why do you never notice it?
  • You know that the Mona Lisa Smile is one of the most famous paintings in the world, but why is the portrait of a woman a form of interest to so many people?
  • What makes something a fact? Until the 15th Century, most people believed that the sun orbits the Earth!

While TEDx Cairo University does not know everything and will not grant you the key to all the secrets in life, they will give you enough answers to really ask: Do I know what I know?
